DCS

 

DCS (Distributed Control System) is an industrial automation system that uses a microprocessor as its core and adopts the design principle of 'distributed control and centralized management.' It connects multiple control units (such as controllers and I/O modules) distributed across the production site to a central operator station via a communication network, enabling real-time monitoring and control of the continuous production process.

 

Core idea: Control functions are distributed, while operation and management functions are centralized, balancing autonomy and comprehensive coordination.

Technical Foundation: The 4C technologies integrating Computer, Communication, CRT display, and Control.

 

Hardware components:

Field control station: Executes real-time control algorithms, including I/O cards (for acquiring signals such as temperature and pressure) and a processor unit (PCU).

Operator station: A human-machine interface used for monitoring and manual intervention.

Engineer's Station: System configuration, maintenance, and control strategy development.

Historical site: Stores process data and supports trend analysis.

Software part:

Control algorithms (such as PID, cascade control), configuration software (for system configuration), and database management tools.

Data acquisition: Converting analog signals from the field into digital signals via I/O modules.

Process control: The PCU processes data according to a preset algorithm and outputs control commands (such as adjusting valve opening).

Monitoring and Alarm: Real-time display of process parameters, triggering alarms when limits are exceeded.

Centralized Management: Supports multi-level access control for production scheduling and optimization.
